Project Engineer

Summary

Looking for entry level, enthusiastic candidates with a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or Architecture. Project engineers will participate, as part of a team, in various projects interacting with contractors, subcontractors, architects, vendors, and the owner. Growth opportunities and increasingly more responsibility increase as skills develop over time.

Essential duties / Responsibilities

Includes the following, but is not limited to, directly, through subordinates, or through agents, consultants or contractors.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize job responsibilities and demonstrate commitment and tenacity in following up on tasks to accomplish project goals
  • Ability to build positive and productive relationships with project team members including the owner, architect, contractor and subcontractors, vendors and specialty consultants and colleagues
  • Understands work processes and responsibilities of trades and coordination requirements between trades to assess the effectiveness of contractor-provided CPM schedules and progress in the field
  • Collects and validates daily contractor and IOR reports
  • Reads and interprets plans and specifications
  • Processes RFI’s and submittals
  • Provides initial entitlement analysis of change order requests
  • Reads and interprets project schedules
  • Conducts quantity take-offs
  • Collects and documents field information necessary for the analysis of change orders
  • Develops specific recommendations for supervisor’s review and approval
  • Coordinates meetings and prepares meeting minutes for project manager’s approval and manages the follow-up on assigned tasks by team members
  • Manages the preparation of punch lists and ensures that contractor accomplishes punch list items
  • Updates and maintains current specifications and drawings to reflect changes to the work
  • Prepares financial information about project expenditures, including invoices and reimbursables
  • Prepares cash flow information for the PM and the owner
  • Knowledge of project design and construction
  • Timely submittal of timesheets via our time management software
